Partners Marci Gross and Amy Mendelson
Family and Friends celebrate the grand opening and ribbon cutting
The shop, owned by Amy Mendelson and Marci Gross, opened in April 2008, and is now located at 126 S. State Street. “We were attracted to Newtown because it’s a growing community and a beautiful place to stop” commented Mendelson. “The building fit the feeling that we want people to have when they come in to enjoy stitching art.”
The needlepoint studio showcases all that is involved with stitching. A variety of needle and thread classes are offered. It’s a place to gather, to learn and expand knowledge of the craft, but mostly to share a common love for needle art.
The walls of the three-room studio are covered with colorful threads and enticing canvases to stimulate ideas for future projects. Four tables with chairs accommodate those who come in to stitch. “Everything is designed to create a haven for people to gather and share their love of needle art,” continued Mendelson, “friends congregate, relax, and even occasionally solve world problems, all with a passion for needle and threads.”
Rose Cottage Needlepoint Studio fills a niche in Newtown for those who enjoy anything that involves a needle poking through something, from jewelry making, beading, to counted cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint, crewel, and Hardanger.
We offer parties for teens, tweens, ladies nights out and friends. Come join us for a relaxing few hours. We can offer group sessions on making bracelets, necklaces, earrings, glasses leashes, pearl knotting and much more. Ask for more details at the shop!
